Conventions of Radio advertisements

As part of my coursework, I also have to create a radio advertisement targeting my audience, informing them about the local newspaper.

For the advertisement, I would like to have a teenager 'on the radio' informing teenagers about the new local newspaper that is available and what issues are raised in the local newspaper. I would like the advertisement to take about 30 seconds to a minute informing the audience. The fact that a teenager will be advertising the newspaper makes it more likely for the teenagers to be interested as they will realise that the newspaper will include issues that will attract them.

Conventions

Duration: The average time for an advertisement in the UK is from 30 seconds to 50 seconds. This is a reasonable time to advertise a product to the potential target audience before they loose interest in the message that is getting across.

Aim of advert: When advertising a product to the audience in an advert. The advert must include specific information about the product to inform the audience about it effectively before they loose interest. The advert must include:
Who - This could include who the company are which alone could attract an audience. eg. brand loyalty and also who they are targeting.
What - What product or service is being advertised to the audience.
When - When the product will be released.
Where - Where the audience could get hold of the product or service.
Why - This could include why the audience should get the product or service. This is the part where the company has to persuade the audience into being interested in the product.


 
 
My advert
 
Who - My advert will include who the target audience will be and also the name of the newspaper which will make the audience familiar with the newspaper.
What - I will also include my product is a local newspaper in the area of Sydenham for teenagers.
When - I will mention in the advert when the newspaper will be available to get
Where - I will mention where the product will be available
Why - The main part of my advert will include why the audience should get the local newspaper
