Images for newspaper

 

After taking a selection of pictures for the main story of my newspaper, I decided to choose this photo as the layout of my newspaper allowed for a portrait photo. I like the angle of the picture which makes the youth centre in a way look more interesting. However, I did not like the amount of lighting in the picture. This might be a problem when creating my newspaper, but I can include lighting effects in photoshop to make it brighter.

As part of my advertisement and features inside the newspaper, I will use one of my classmates posters advertising a film they made. I will create the feature as if there is going to be an interview with the young director about the new film. This will be relevant to my target audience as the director is a teenager and therefore might be interested in finding out how the director managed to make a new film.

Being a teenager in Sydenham, I know how popular the jerk cook off competition is. It is an event for all families and friends. By including this feature in my newspaper, it will attract the teenagers that like to do things with their friends or are family orientated. So by taking a picture of the Hornimans museum which is a well known place, my audience might be attracted.

This image of a football clearly represents the feature of sports. I feel that it is important to have strong images that create a meaning already to the audience and then the text should emphasise the meaning so that the audience can see the images from far and make meaning of it if they cannot see the text.

• Fashion and jobs- For these two features, I feel that it will be more interesting and create an own sense of style if they were shown through typography as opposed to images, creating a convention of 'Sydenham Youth' itself and a unique sense of style.

By including typography and a range of different images and their connotations, attracts the different people in my target audience to show that there is something to interest everybody in the newspaper.
