Typeface of newspaper

I decided to research into the best font that will be suitable for me to use as a font in my newspaper. The font must be easy to read and be able to stand out, it should also be relevant to the target audience and still formal as my audience research showed that the teenagers will prefer their newspaper to still be formal. In order to find interesting fonts, I decided to search for fonts on dafonts.com instead of using the average fonts on Microsoft Word.

Here are some fonts that I decided will be suitable for my newspaper:

Positive:
  • The AR Christy font appears quite playful which is relavant to the target audience in terms of age.
  • The font makes the content seem fun and interesting
Negative:
  • The font could be hard to read - might be harder for dislexic teenagers because of the irregular sized letters.
  • The font is irregular- might appear too childlike

Positive:
  • The Broadway font is bold
  • The font is clear and easy to read
Negative:
  • The font appears old fashioned
  • The font seems quite boring

Positive:
  • The Wrktag appears youthful which will be relevant to my target audience
  • The font appears like graffiti which relates to being urban and youthful
Negative:
  • The connotation of the typeface becomes abit cliche as people always use graffiti type text to appeal to the youth.
  • The font is very informal and does not seem suitable for a newspaper
